BrightEdge’s acquisition of Oncrawl creates the leading SEO platform on the market

FAQ

Answers to some of the most frequently asked questions

Q. Is Oncrawl becoming American?

A. No, Oncrawl is created by a French company run by a French team.

Q. Is Oncrawl now, or will Oncrawl become BrightEdge in the future?

A. No, Oncrawl is still Oncrawl. We’re here to stay.

Q. Why did BrightEdge make an offer to acquire Oncrawl?

A. BrightEdge already includes a technical SEO offer, and a crawler, so that’s not what they were interested in, although they believe our crawler’s scalability and certain crawler configuration customizations could be an advantage for some of their customers. They really liked our stance and investment in innovation, our technical SEO technology, and our view on the importance of data science for the future of SEO. They wanted to invest in Oncrawl as data innovators, as well as as a technical SEO platform.

Q. Why did Oncrawl accept this offer?

A. BrightEdge’s offer aligned with Oncrawl’s ambitions and values. We feel that their technology, their teams, and (perhaps most of all) their willingness to commit to the continued existence and growth of Oncrawl spoke to a collaboration we wanted to be part of.

Q. What is the benefit for Oncrawl's clients?

A. BrightEdge has a great distribution network and streamlined internal Sales and Marketing processes that Oncrawl, as a younger and much smaller company, doesn’t (yet). We can learn from them about scaling our revenue and client base, which means more resources for new features and new innovations for you as Oncrawl users.

Enterprise clients with both solutions will see additional benefits, but I don’t have specific information about the exact details or the timing of this type of collaboration at the moment.

Q. If I don't want to use BrightEdge, can I still continue to use Oncrawl as before?

A. The company behind Oncrawl (Cogniteev) is now owned by BrightEdge, but we’ll continue to work separately. The whole Oncrawl team is still here, and we’ve been told that our product will continue to exist independently. There’s no requirement to be a BrightEdge customer if you want to use or continue to use Oncrawl.

Q. Is Oncrawl going to go away?

A. No, Oncrawl will continue to operate as an independent solution. The company behind Oncrawl (Cogniteev) is now owned by BrightEdge, but we’ll continue to work separately. The whole Oncrawl team is still here, and our product will continue to exist independently.

Q. What does BrightEdge have to say about Oncrawl's future?

A. BrightEdge states in their open message to customers, “We believe that this partnership gives Oncrawl additional access to technology, customers and scale. Oncrawl has chosen to stay independent, and we believe it will thrive, bringing more innovation to a wider customer base. BrightEdge customers will also benefit from getting the best of both worlds in terms of technologies from both BrightEdge and Oncrawl. With this partnership Oncrawl plans to further bolster its R&D efforts and expand its offerings.
“Oncrawl has decided not to change any of its offerings, prices, branding, and support model as a part of this acquisition, which Oncrawl believes is the best for the SEO community.”

Q. Will Oncrawl be integrated in BrightEdge?

A. No, Oncrawl will continue to exist and be marketed and sold independently, even if BrightEdge may integrate parts of Oncrawl’s technology into the BrightEdge platform.

Q. Is Oncrawl going to continue to offer subscriptions for smaller accounts?

A. Yes. We’ve been explicitly told that our plans and sales procedures are staying exactly the same under the acquisition as before.

Q. Is Oncrawl going to change their pricing or their subscription plans?

A. No. They’ve been stable for a few years, so they might evolve a bit in the future, but we’ve been told that our plans and sales procedures are staying exactly the same under the acquisition as before.
You may have seen that we’ll be formalizing a joint offer later this year, but we don’t expect this to impact our product plans or their pricing.

Q. Will there be any changes to Oncrawl's terms and conditions?

A. No, our terms and conditions will remain the same.
You may have seen that we’ll be formalizing a joint offer later this year, which might impact some of our terms and conditions related to this offer. However, since both companies remain independent, I can confirm that BrightEdge’s terms and conditions will not replace Oncrawl’s.

Q. Will my data be handled differently?

A. No, we’re not making any changes to how we protect, process, store or otherwise handle data. We currently process and store data in Europe for European customers, and that isn’t going to change.

" When we founded Oncrawl, our mission was to democratize SEO technologies, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and advanced engineering in order to create the next generation of technical and data SEO solutions. With this acquisition, we've strengthened the means to continue to work towards those goals at Oncrawl.

In BrightEdge, we've found a partner who shares our core values. I'm very proud of BrightEdge's support that will allow us to become, together, the first on the market to provide this to users. "
